Vegan “classic” recipe hunt!

Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the healthy plant-based recipes that I’ve been discovering and trying.  But recently, I’ve been thinking about all of the traditional recipes that my family used to enjoy growing up.  The “classics” that you rarely eat as an adult (at least that’s true for this adult), but every once in a while crave due to a childhood memory and a deep-rooted nostalgia.

Sure there are plenty of mass-produced mock-meats out there to help satisfy my buffalo wing or sloppy joe craving, but processed foods are simply not worth it to me anymore.  But wholesome, plant-based homemade alternatives?  I’m there!

Enter my Pinterest  recipe hunt obsession for Vegan and/or Dairy Free “classic” concoctions.

The thought of homemade comfort food that is plant-based and minimally processed has me all sorts of giddy to get a vegan pot luck planned ASAP.

I cannot wait to try some of these recipes:

Vegan Cauliflower Buffalo “wings”

Vegan Mac and Cheese

Lentil Sloppy Joes

I’ve known for a long time that eating plant-based tastes delicious and doesn’t have to  be a sacrifice, but I hadn’t really considered finding more wholesome replacements for the less-healthy processed childhood treats I had said goodbye to long ago.  I can’t wait to see how these recipes work out!

Do you have any must-try vegan “classic comfort food” recipes that I should try?

  1. I hear ya loud and clear on this one. Sometimes I just don’t want to think of a new soup to try or do a crock-pot quick fix – I want something I know from my youth and that (in this seriously gloomy weather) feels like my childhood safety blanket.

I like the idea here of redefining our relationships with these foods. It feels severe and harsh to completely cut them out of our lives. A little tweak here and there, and we find the same comforts :)
